[Vintage 2020] 12oz bottle pour at Stillwell Beer Bar. Pours clear amber with white head. Aroma has caramel malts, dried fruit, cloves, port barrels. Flavour has dried fruit, cloves, dates, port barrels. Nice and complex, great contribution from the port barrels; excellent beer.

I obtained a 33 cl bottle from Finest Belgian late last year, worked my way to this well anticipated sampling this early evening. Teku glass ready, I take a pour. An interesting amber body with a small ring of ultra fine silver-tan bubbles. Likewise there’s an interesting scent, ripe fruit, yeast and grain. Finally a drink and I determine dried apricots, white bread, an unusual boozy floral quality, leather and a hint of caramel. A rather full sensation for a blonde ale, a contribution from the barrel apparently. Dry and slightly bitter. A rather good selection in the style.

Hazy amber beer, thin head. Whiff of the port and some fruit and malt. Flavour has sweet malt, apple, caramel, a little honey, some pepper and you definitely get a bit of the barrel in there, giving the whole thing a sweet boozy warmth. Very decent indeed.

Bottle marked vintage 2020, drunk while fighting with my cable modem (thanks Vodafone) after doing some light demolition and then cement spackling n the Wintergarden entrance. Super dark red gold, small head. Nose is very sticky, toffee/honey, wine cellar notes in the background. Big yeasty complexity with caramel and some umami notes. Well balanced despite the toffee nose. Citrusy hop bitterness and wood tannins give it a long-lasting finish. Nice!

Bottle, vintage 202. Color: Reddish amber, very thin off-white head. Aroma: Malty, spicy, Port hints. Taste: Spicy, bit yeasty, Port notes and some candy sugar and oak wood. Hints of nuts. Boozy finish. Just over medium body, below average carbonation. Moderate to over moderate sweet. Moderate bitterness. Nice.
