Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a pale straw with a small white head and good lacing. There’s a curious mixture of autumn fruits and medication in the aroma. It starts of sweet in the mouth, but then traditional hops come through and keep getting stronger until they totally dominate. Some lemongrass too, and the finish is dry and pretty d*mn bitter, It’s a pretty decent IPA, Sheila !

Handpull cask at the Salmon, Leicester. Light gold, clear with a thin white head. It looks so harmless! Ammonia in the aroma with caramel and some TCP. Sweet taste with some sulphurous bitter notes, letting to a hoppy bitter finish. A nicely crafted old-fashioned UK IPA.

Clear golden color with a fine white head. Ok lacing down the sides of the glass. Moderate intensity in the aroma. Medium body and an average to soft carbonation. Ok balance between sweetness and bitterness. Citric, malty, mild pine and fruity flavor. A bit mild and quite easy to drink. Very session able.
