Bottle on the train home from the Cotteridge Convention 2015. Pours unclear golden-brown with a light, creamy tan head. Nice aroma with notes of toast, pine, citrus and even nips of roast. Medium sweet flavor with more pronounced roast, ripe citrus fruits, earth, light cocoa. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Nicely hoppy on the finish (American!), with more toasty and roasty malts. Solid.

Bottle split on the return Cotts X-Press to EUS, 24/01/15. Lightly hazed amber/brown with a moderate off white head. Nose is biscuit malt, toffee, candied fruit, sugar. Taste comprises biscuit, toffee, light pine, earthy hop notes, bitter orange. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, earthy hop rinse in the close. Decent enough hoppy brown.

330ml bottle. Clear, dark copper colour with huge, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Nuttily malty and citrusy hoppy aroma, hints of pine, mandarine, orange, orange zest. Taste is minimally sweet, nuttily malty, citrusy hoppy overtones, dry hints of pine and nut pellicle, some hop bitterness, hints of orange zest.

Bottle from Beets, I think. Appearance - deep amber to brown. Lovely fluffy head that stays. Nose - biscuits and nuts and gentle chocolate. Taste - bourbon creams, well the biscuit bit, not the creamy bit. Nuts too. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a lovely long dry finish. Overall - a very fresh brown ale, well hopped and with a good complex malt bill. I’d gives a nod to Bitter style. I could easily drink 6.

Bottle 330ml (AbM). Copper ruby color, good off-white head. Chocolate, toasted notes and citrus. Also slightly yeasty. Medium-bodied. Licorice, citrus and toasted malts. Lingering citrus in the aftertaste. Name is slightly misleading. This is quite typical CDA.

Bottle on the return from Cotteridge. It pours.hazy deep brown with a medium beige head. The nose is toasty, earth, brown bread, red berry, jammy fruits and mild spice. The taste is bitter, toasty, caramel, leather, varnish, juicy citrus, light spice and brown bread with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty tasty.

330ml bottle drank at Dronfield Beer Stop - Nice chestnut brown body with big foaming creme caramel coloured head that disperses quite quickly. The nose is like smokey tobacco with slight peppery notes. Taste is toffee and plums and cigar smoke, with some subtle tropical fruit hops there bolstering a maltiness that I didn’t expect. Strange, but interestingly complex beer.
