Nelson Hopped Foudre DIPA
Originally a Double IPA, this beer was racked into one of our five thousand litre Italian foudres for 6 months on our house mixed ferm culture, before being dry hopped with hand-selected CY19 Nelson.
Fresh and vibrant now, further bio-transformation is likely to produce greater complexity.
Best paired with a reflection on the oneness of all beings, and a question - who is the self?

Bottle. Thanks to Sir Alex. Split during Denmark-Scotland. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Ripe tropical fruit and a touch of wood and brett. Vinous. Low carbonaion. Dangerous at 9 point 2.

Hazy golden with white head. Fruity, lemony, melony, hoppy, sour berries, cat pee, chalky. Unnecessary high ABV sour, unnecessary barrel aging. (IMHO).

Bottle shared. Hazy golden with white head. Kiwi, funk, cat pee, funky notes, gooseberries, dank hops, lots of dank hops. Medium sweet, just medium sour and bitter. Solid medium bodied. OK, but a bit too much pee. Decent.

Bottle at home, from CW online, 08/11/20. Hazed orange with a well presented just off white cap. Nose is grape must, funk, stoned fruits, light wood must, pissy twang, damp hay. Taste comprises white grape must, damp oak, big bretty smack, funk blanket, stoned fruits, background tropical fruit esters, pissy nip, farmyard notes. Another excellent funky DIPA ... just edges as the other for me ... a solid solid beer again.

Bottle at home from CW online. Pours murky orange gold with a thin white ring of a head. Aroma is orange, peach, mango, sticky hop, just a hint of funky white wine, bit of oak cask too. Taste is sticky hop, bitter orange, grape, oak, sticky hop, really tart, dry funky finish. Merest hint of booze. Lovely and light. Superb

Bottle. CW online. Got giddy for this, to be honest. Medium haze on an orange gold. Slim ring of white. Nose has stinky hop leaf. Vinegar. Bright white grape. Clean cut wood. Sweaty brett. Touch of stone fruit. It’s all here. Taste is dry, tart, vinous and slightly bitter. Robust gear, that keeps super drinkable. Fine and crisp carbonation. Dry and punchy bitterness to finish. Apparently this is 9.2%. Silly easy drinking, mega tasty delight.
