Lively golden ale with a decent foamy head with a light caramel aroma. Flavour has a touch of caramel too, set off by tangier, tart citrus. If it wasn’t so strong it’d be bang-on as a summer guzzle-able.

Bottle from Tesco, Brighouse. Amber-gold, no head. Has a general malt-hop nose, some fruit in its taste but very balanced in its core ingredients in terms of producing its flavour. There’s a small sweetness that lingers.

330ml bottle from Morrisons, Edinburgh. Pours clear gold, short-lived white head. Aromas of butterscotch and bread, light earthy hops. Taste is light sour, more butterscotch. Astringent finish. Not good.

Quite a fruity, peachy aroma. Flavour has a slightly peppery, spicy edge at first as found in some Belgian ales. It’s not particularly sweet though. Dry, with plain maltiness.

TESCO shelf beer, 330ml bottle: BBD 16 Jul 14, poured into a ’Chimay’ chalice at home on 26 Apr 14. The first beer in a ’random tasting evening’ I had with myself. Slight haze to my golden pour, the white head disappearing to an island, wisp and collar far to quickly. One of Hepworth’s better brews to be honest. The nose however was weak really, some yeastiness with maybe a squirt of Pink Grapefruit and some light maltiness. The taste followed that line also, mild yeast flavour mixed in with some citrus hints and an underlying mini sweetness from the malts.
