Bottle at home. Deep red amber with a frothy beige and bumpy head, like one on top of a coffee cup. Medium carbonation. Aromas of cardamom, cloves and ginger. I sence also the classic Ngne touch in the nose. Flavours of roast malt, more cardamom which is the most dominant, cloves, grapefruit, and coriander towards the end. Light nice bitterness that lasts. Slick and some watery mouthfeel. This is christmas in a bottle through and through, and a delicious ale.

50cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Dark reddish brown colour, off white head. Very spicy aroma, with I think cardamon, laurel, ginger, cinnamon, lemongrass, liquorice. Flavour is sweet, same spices as listed above, dark fruits, laurel, light malty, liquorice, light earthy and herbal bitter finish. Light to medium bodied. Tasty, but a bit over-spiced imo.

500 ml bottle from Systembolaget. Deep brown liquid with medium to big light tan head. Aroma is really spicy with notes of cinnamon, clove, grapefruit, caramel and biscuity malt. Reminds me of glögg. Taste is dry, medium bitter and malty with lots of spices and light smoke. Medium to full bodied with good carbonation. Really nice Christmas brew, worked wonderfully with the food. Maybe the spicing is a bit over the top.

50cl bottle. Pours a deep rih browb with a hint of pirple. The head is rich and creamy. The nose is of treacle, szechuan pepper, 5 spice and ginger. The background maltiness is quite like fruit cake. The taste has ginger cake and szechuan pepper again. The palate is medium to full bodied, there is a tangy texture and a dry finish. However, I find the spiciness a bit too much. Overall, this is very tasty but lacks drinkability.

50 cl bottle @ home. #674, brewed 08.08.2011, BBE 08.08.2014
Aroma is rather strong on spices. Also some fruity hops and flowery notes with hints of licorice. Flavour is spicy and ashy with licorice. Too spicy, but not bad still.

500 ml bottle bought @ Systembolaget and consumed on December 15. Pours deep pinkish red with a small creamy white head. Smell is malty sweet and perfume-like with burnt sugar, dill, very ripe almost rotten tropical fruits, ginger, soup stock and some alcohol. Taste is bitter and sweet with ripe fruits and spices. Finish is slightly sweet and slightly bitter.

Smell of cardamom and neilikka. Tastes like spices and berries. Sweet. Watery when cold, gets better with temperature.

50cl bottle from Alko. Batch #674. Poured mahogany color with a frothy bubbly head. Aroma sure is spicy, you feel the fresh ginger already when you open the bottle. Cinnamon and clove also in the aroma. Flavor is malty, but also very spicy and mulled wine like overall. Light to medium bodied. Bit too spicy to be really enjoyable, nonetheless nice to try these kind of beers once in a while.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - batch 674 - BBE 080814, 20111109) The beer poured dark brown and quite clear. Its head was medium sized, fizzy and almost white. Aroma had lot of spices (clove, cinnamon and more) and roasted malts in the background. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were spices, chocolate, roasted malts, hint of hop flavours and quite low bitterness. Aftertaste was spicy, roasty and bitter. Very spicy beer - more like a glögg. Not my thing really.

500ml bottle from Alko

Brygget 080811, best føre 080814 - Pours dark brown with a medium foamy and light brown head. Massive aroma of spices, mulled wine (gløgg), ginger, pepper and caramel malts. Taste is quite unusual and has heavy notes of spices, mulled wine, malts and hints of chocolate and hops. Finish is slightly warming and smooth with some bitter notes. Quite an unusual brew, but still manages to be very tasty despite all the spiciness. Well balanced and very Christmasy beer, indeed.
