It's time to dial up the hops with Cotswold Brew Co's IPA. It leads with a burst of citrus flavour, a touch of sweet honey and caramel, balanced by a smooth bitter finish. This is a flavour-packed and eminently refreshing beer.

Bottle at Whatley Manor, near Malmesbury, for my Mum & Dad's golden wedding anniversary. Lovely place this. Shame they succumb to the usual hotel disgrace of massively overcharging for beer. Still, at least they've gone to the trouble of sourcing local brews. This one pours a glowing pale amber with a good white head. It's pretty minerally up front, with a touch of cardboard. It improves as as orange and caramel come through but it's still not great. It's a real shame that the beer wasn't up to the standard of the gorgeous surroundings or the food, but it did at least let me raise a toast - happy anniversary Mum & Dad, & may you enjoy many more together!

Bottle at home, picked up from the brewery, 19/03/20. Clear golden amber with a decent off white cap. Nose is pale malts, breads, grass, cereals, toasted grains, light orange peel. Taste comprises pale malts, lager yeast, cereals, light citric drizzle, caramel, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with very mellow hop bitterness. Decent lager ... very much more L than IP !!

Tap at the brewery. Clear golden orange, white head. Aroma is floral, citrus, grass, malts. Taste is light sweet malts, caramel, citrus, floral/grassy, light sweet, low bitterness. Medium body. Seems like this is brewed in the same way as their lagers so they should call this an IPL really.

330ml bottle: BB 25th Sep 18. Poured into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru stemmed tulip at home on 27th Apr 18 during a live tasting session with myself. Bright, clear and clean golden body, white bubbles for a head. Half Lager, half IPA. Semi-sweet malts in the taste, light malty molasses in the aroma. Mild hop bitterness in both the nose and flavour, actually a nice blend of ingredients but it isn't an APA in my eyes.
