2004 bottle. Clear golden body, with a slight orange tinge to it. White head is not long retained. Aroma has a dirty, soily hops smell, but overal, not very strong (even from a tulip). Begins with a little bit of light caramel and honey and you quickly get some light fuzzy, leafy hops bitterness and flavor. It’s fairly dry and only a little bit juicy. Lots of bitterness on the end, but the hops flavor never really gets intense, funky, smoky or terribly flavorful. Medium body, no wateriness or thinning, but it’s not real full to begin with.

Hazy copper body with abundant yeast sediment; medium clumping off-white head leaving nice lacing. Hoppy aroma, of the earthy-leafy variety, with a touch of tobacco. Full, rich Fuggles flavor with a touch of bubblegum, definite tobacco leaf, and associated earthy flavors before the bitter finish. Toasty with just the right touch of bubblegummy candy to offset the bitter resins. One of my favorite hops, delivering quite a bit of complexity, especially in relation to some of the more popular varieties. I wish more brewers would use Fuggles.

$1.35 for a 12-oz single. Big fluffy head utop a ruddy-amber colored beer. Smells of apples and soap. Tastes of grassy apples, but is also very weak... not your typical IPA... not a terrible beer, but not very good either.

Shipyard is a pretty mediocre brewer in my opinion but this is one fo the few beers of theirs that i will seek out. +++Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a rich golden-amber color with a large creamy yellow head that lingers forever and produces nice lacing. The aroma is strong with malt, some fruit and sweet hop elements. The flavor is sweet, mildly bitter with a strong fuggles hop flavor. Very nice. Decent malt balance. A bit bitter on the finish. A nice pale ale though I doubt that I would classify it as an IPA.

Pours amber with a small head. You can almost smell hops there. Small hop flavor goes along with small hop aroma. There are better out there.

Amber-orange. Aroma shows tangerines, earth, hedgey notes. Slightly salty on the palate with earthy bitterness. Slightly peachy. Quite bitter.

Light amber color. Not convincing aroma: light paper, apricots. Dry body, with an evident bitterness but not enough hop aroma. Poor.

The aroma is slightly hoppy. The color is a slightly hazy lihgt amber and it has an OK but fast disappearing head. The flavor is sweet and hoppy from aroma hops. It ends on a grassy note. It is not that bitter, so I would rather call it a standard ale than an IPA. An OK beer but nothing special.

Golden colour with tons of large bubbles. Mild hoppy smell. Dry hoppy flavour with a very short aftertaste. More of a Pale Ale than an IPA. I don't know how this made it to the top 50 of IPA's.

The outstanding aroma of this beer made me expect much more from the taste. I have to agree to the slightly metallic aftertaste. It left a genuinely nasty taste in my mouth for at least an hour.
