Deep brown colour with a light tan head. Sweet nose with hints of alcohol. Very sweet malty flavour with some fruity notes. A bit to much alcohol taste as well

En nästan fem år gammal flaska från 2007 som faktiskt kändes lite platt. Annars de klassiska BW-smakerna av malten som torkad frukt, honung och toffee, men även enl iten syrlighet.

Bottled 330ml. -from Biererei, Vienna. Vintage 2007.
Murky honey golden coloured, small off-white head, sweet malty nose. Sweet sticky malty, overripe fruity and alcoholic with notes of wax in the finish. Very nice fruity aftertaste.

Bottle bought @ Systembolaget and consumed on September 17. Pours amber brown with a small white head. Smell is caramel, persimmon, vanilla and some alcohol. Taste is sweet and malty. It’s dominated by a malty caramel taste, warm alcohol and brown sugar that gives way for a rather bitter hoppy aftertaste. There is also a very subtle smoked taste to it.

15/08 0.33 l bottle, vintage 2007, courtesy of ogivlado or Marko, thanks anyway to both for sharing! It poured hazy orange to brown body with small head. Sherry, licorice, sweet and slightly alcoholic aroma. Sharp fruity flavor, mostly sweet but there are also some acidic and bitter alcohol notes. Sticky. Sweetish finish with warming alcohol. Not bad, but quite simple and alcoholic, even 4 years after bottling.

2007 version. Poured a lovely slightly hazy orange-goldenm body. Strong, malty nose, Samichlaus-like. The taste is slightly too sweet, but smooth. Malty, grainy, slightly acidic. Ok, these notes are crap. Still, I did note that it was a fine malt-driven barleywine.

Bottle. (vintage 2001 and 2007 in July 2011) I preferred the bottle from 2007, this rating is about that beer. The beer was almost clear dark orange with a minimal white head. Sweet and vinous aroma with syrup, malt and dried fruit. The taste was good but rather thin. The bottle from 2001 was still very drinkable, old but not too old.

Bottle @ Home. Pours golden with a small white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, dried fruit. Taste is sweet caramel, malt, aaples and dried fruit. Medium body, low carbonation.

33 cl bottle from Systembolaget. Clear, amber liquid with small off-white head. Malty aroma with notes of caramel, floral hops, fruits and toffee. Taste is sweet with light to medium bitterness. Similar notes as the aroma. Medium to full bodied with light carbonation. Some alcohol. Sadly enough, this beer has the Nils Oscar "house-flavour" of leaves and smoke, which bothers me. Good but not outstanding.

Bottle from 2001. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty dark fruit aroma with some spicy hints.Fruity malty caramel and dark fruit flavor. Has a fruity malty dark fruit finish.
