26/XII/13 - 33cl bottle from a trade @ home, 2nd Christmas tasting - BB: VII/2014 - 2007 vintage (2013-1185) Thanks to Nisse666 for the trade!

Clear orange to amber beer, small aery irregular yellow head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: toast, caramel, honey, bit dusty, walnuts. The ageing has taken it's toll, and it already starts in the nose. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: lots of caramel, honey, bit sugary, very fruity, hints of sherry, orange peel, but also some chocolate. Aftertaste: soft bitterness, sweet malts, honey, little sourish, spices, some aniseed, caramel. It's a nice beer, but was probably much better a bit fresher. The best by date is a lie! :p

Flaske, 2007-årgangen, på RB samling hjemme (takk til Odd Gunnar): åh, denne lekre aromaen av rosiner, svisker og portvin. MEN: null skum, litt vandig i munnen og ettersmaken. Har nok tapt seg engod del.

Bottle sampled in 2009. Unclear dark orange body with a rather fast disappearing off-white head. Aroma is dominated by malt that feels sweet with a pleasant degree of oxidation and warming alcohol. Still a bit weak. Flavor is sweet malt, some caramel and Sherry type of alcohol. Fine body and medium aftertaste. Nice but there is more to be done here.

Pours with quite low viscosity. Aroma is quite light with harsh malt, some nectar-like juicy notes, ripe fruits and toffee. Flavour has fruity notes, some malt and toffee. Finishes with a feeling of alcohol. Quite thin and flat. ”It will only improve with time” my ass.

Süßer, hell würziger Antrunk. Fast zuckrig, immerhin bei geringer Intensität. Leicht herb, süffig. Die Süße stört nun etwas und macht das Bier unrund, wenig malzig. Brotig. 8/8/9/9/19/8

33cl bottle. Pours a nice honey with a layer of thin lace which sticks around for a while. The nose is very malty with a slight alcohol note. The taste is similar but oranges are coming through with a burnt sugar finish. The palate is full bodied but elegant in the texture with a long finish that is actually fairly elegant given the style. Overall, lovely.

12oz bottle split with Brian. Murky orange-tan. Oxidized amber malt aroma. Sweet, not really benefitting from aging, assumably has lost some depth. Some honey tones, bad mead. A pinch lighter and smoother on the palate than i wouldve expected, but still not so enjoyable.

11.2 oz. bottle, pours a mostly clear copper / golden with a small off-white head. Aroma of apples, caramel, licorice and booze. Flavour of apple juice, caramel, and candied sugar. Not the most complex of barley wines, quite dominated by the apple juice characterizes. Thin body and quite sweet. Decent, but certainly not my type of barley wine.
