(Bottle, 2002 vintage, on 2009-04-05 at Pikkulintu, Helsinki) Amber and lightly hazy. Small white head. Raisin, malts and quite intense sweetness in aroma. Full bodied and dry palate with little carbonation and warmth from alcohol. Malts, raisin, sweetness, light saltiness, hint of liquorice and tiny bit of aniseed in taste. Malty and raisiny aftertaste.

Pours copper into a snifter. Off-white head quickly recedes to hug rim. Sweet alcohol aromas. Smooth and sweet, but not cloying. Honey flavors prevail, alcohol well hidden. Well balanced and English - not too bitter, but not sugary.

Bottle. Clear. Copper colour. Sweet aroma of corn, balsamico and some kind of vegtable. The taste is unbalanced and has no real depth. Tastes corn, banan and cheap whiskey.

Bottle, got from Phil L’s Cave Direct Beer Merchants consumed 02-09-08 Pours amber with amazing clarity, nice soft sugar and barley sugar sweets on the nose. The taste is actually very smooth and surprisingly creamy with barley sugar sweets again and toffee, not a lot else but very nice all the same, I might age a bottle for a few years.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dagan’s place. Thanks Dagan. Vintage 2007. Hazy deep orange-golden. Maltu aroma of cookies, caramel, light chocolate hints and a bit of alcohol. Malty, cookie-ish, caramelly flavor. Slightly syrupy mouthfeel. 7/3/7/3/14=3.4

Bottle. Vintage 2000. Thank you so much Per for bringing me this 8-year (!) old bottle. Deep amber color with no head and with lots of floaties. Aroma has malt, alcohol, some Port-wine notes, some caramel and fruits. Sweet malty flavor with caramel, some honey, light toasted hints, some fruits, and a rather dry finish with alcohol. Medium to full-bodied, slightly oily in texture. Not a great Barley Wine but still quite enjoyable nonetheless. 6/3/7/4/14=3.4

Bottle. Overly sweet and overly simple. Light amber body with a quickly diminishing off-white head. The aroma is bready and sweet with notes of caramel, cotton candy, fresh-baked bread and hints of peach and alcohol. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, approaching cloying, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. The finish remains sweet and lightly bitter with an aftertaste of apricot. Medium body with a sticky texture. Low to moderate carbonation. Alcohol warming.

"Swedish Style Barely Wine". This might taste quite nice with 3 or 4 years of age on it. Pours with an off-white, foamy head covering a orange-peachy colored, filter clear body. Some spider lacing left by the head. Aroma of sweet caramel, prunes , butter, sugar, and a touch of resiny hops. Taste is sweet and very clean, European style blond barely wine. Emphasis on the malts, and I cannot emphasis enough on how very sweet it is. Lots of caramel and a little DMS. Creamy mouthfeel, and great carbonation levels. On a side note, this is more drinkable than most 7% beers, quite scare how easy to drink and well hidden the alcohol is at 9.5%!
