“Garde Dog” Biere de Garde is unfiltered with a hazy, deep golden to light copper appearance. Brewed with domestically grown French Hops and German Pilsner Malts, it gives craft beer drinkers a very enjoyable, light-bodied, subtlety sweet beer with toasty malt undertones. Garde Dog is the perfect compleiment to lighter fare such as seafood, salads, cheese and Middle Eastern and Indian foods

Bottle, small stable head, clear dark gold colour, yeasty nose with biscuit and white fruit notes, flavour of candy with some white fruit and some spiciness, light bitterness. Enjoyable and true to the style.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Clear golden color with a medium slowly-diminishing white head. Aroma of yeast, banana, orange and some other fruit esters as well as some spicy notes and malty hints. Flavor starts with sweetish with malt, caramel and fruits, then turns drier and spicy and finishes moderately bitter with some hops. Medium-bodied. Not bad.

355ml bottle from Bierzwerg. Poured hazy golden color with a thin, quickly disappearing head. Fruity, yeasty and earthy aroma. Flavor is fruit, hops and some yeast leading to a somewhat sweet finish. Nothing special really, still drinkable though.

Hazy amber beer, no real head. Carbonation is low but provides a little bite at the end. Smooth and crisp. Sweet maly with traces of banana and cloves. Very easy drinking beer.

Pours slightly hazy gold with a small white head. It smells of light malt and tastes of sweet, light, somewhat grainy malt with mild hops. There’s not much going on here, maybe a trace of fruity esters. Underwhelming.

A golden amber ale with a thin white head. A light subdued sweet malt with light fruity esters in aroma. In mouth, a light watery Garde beer with light solvent notes, boring.

Small bottle. Overwhelming flavor of sweet, ripe apple juice. Spicy as well, almost likie cinnamon and nutmeg. This is some strange stuff that does not taste remotely like a biere de garde. Something went wrong here. Not up to FD’s usual high standards.

Purchased on my trip to Nashville. Pours a cloudy beige-orange colour with a little white head that creates patchy lacing and stays on top of the brew. Aromas are yeasty, fruity (citrus, apples) and mildly earthy. Medium-heavy mouthfeel, but still refreshing and wet. Decent taste of fruits (apples again, some light pears) and mild malts. Less alcohol than other French Biere de Garde I have tried (so no burns here). An easy-drinking American version.
