6/IV/14 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ Akke's place, Ronde van Vlaanderen marathon - BB: II/2016 (2014-351)
Clear deep red beer, creamy irregular light beige head, little stable, adhesive. Aroma: wow! Lovely fruity, piny and resinous aroma's, absolutely fantastic stuff! MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: sweet malty start, citrus, passion fruits, pineapple, some caramel, soft sour touch, very fruity. Aftertaste: little sour, pretty bitter, grapefruit, sweet caramel touch, lots of passion fruits, sweet mango, bit sugary, alcohol touch. Very nicely done!

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Slightly hazy dark reddish amber colour, thin but creamy off-white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, some citrus, caramel, nice hoppiness. Flavour is quite sweet, caramel, malt, fruity, citrus, tropical fruits, soft bitter finish. Alcohol barely detectable. Medium-bodied, smooth. Nice, albeit a bit on the sweet side. Didn’t detect any ’t IJ character though.

Pours dark amber , small white head , Heavy malty smell , combined with intense hops . Aromatic , bitter , very fresh . Taste is bitter, just as in the smell , it has intense hops and much grains . Rather low carbo . Nice !

Bottled, BB 02/2016, medium sample. Aroma was lots of citrus, grapefruit, hint of pine, slight spicy yeast but quite clean still, some caramel. Bit sweet in taste, medium bitterness. Nicely balanced. Good stuff.

33cl bottle @ home, bought @ the brewery on the day of release, and drank it the same day. Fairly clear red/copper color. Rocky, off white head with reasonable retention. Aroma’s: at first resin and citrus, the resin recedes a bit in favor of the citrus. A bit herbal too. Resin, citrus and malts retronasal, sweet ’n’ sour fruit, somewhat herbal. Flavor is moderate sweet, dried fruit, moderate bitter. Fairly strong alcohol feel. Medium bodied. Finish of herbal hops, but really not so bitter. Enjoyable.
