A smooth, dark red porter with German malts and hops. Additions of fresh ground coffee and roast hazelnut syrup give this speciality beer, depth and complexity.

Cask @ St. Urho’s Pub, Helsinki

Pours copper orange with a bubbly head. Aroma of hazelnuts, hints of coffee and roastiness. Taste is watery, sweetish and malty with notes of nuts, hints of coffee and roastiness. Finish is smooth and sweet with notes of fruits, nuts and cold coffee. A bit unbalanced, not very porter-like.

(Cask at St. Urho’s Pub Portteripäivät ’13) The beer poured brown. Its head was small and white. Aroma had nuts, chocolate, roasted malts and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, nuts, malts, more sweetness and low bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. Unpleasant: too sweet and the nut flavour was too strong.

Bottle from Mr Lawrence Wine Merchants, Brockley. Reddish-brown pour with a white head. Chocolate, nuts and light coffee aroma. Milk chocolate, light nuts and some coffee flavours. Not bad at all.

Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - 30/09/12. Dark mahogony brown with a thin han head. Nose was a little disappointing and muted. Roast malts and nuts. Tasted much better with dark roast malt prominent, hazelnut and light coffee tones. Medium to light in a body a little too thin and watery, another let down on this beer. Drinkable but could have been a few notches better!

50cl bottle, batch #2855, BB 04-2013, from Beer City.

Bottle from Tomlinson Beer Shop
Dark chestnut brown, thin bubbly off white head, some lacing
Aroma of dark caramel malts, light coffee, hint of chocolate, sweet dark malts
Taste of soft dark caramel malts, light soft coffee, molasses, bit of nutty malt, simple beer, not a lot going on here, don’t get the hazelnuts apart from a bit of nuttiness
Palate medium carb, thinnish body. Finish - more bitter roast in the finish and coffee, some rather over lingering soft coffee
Overall - It’s an OK porter, perhaps worth trying again on cask, bit too thin for me
