A smooth, dark red porter with German malts and hops. Additions of fresh ground coffee and roast hazelnut syrup give this speciality beer, depth and complexity.

Bottled at Hell Hunt. Deep ruby brown color, small firm beige head. Artificial chocolate aroma, light grassy notes. Medium-bodied. Artificial chocolate flavor too with late grassy bitterness. Not my cup of tea.

Bottle from Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Unporterish dark red. Halo of tan head. Nutty, sweet milk chocolate aroma. Coffee not discernible. Taste is initially syrupy sweet, with a bitter palate and aftertaste. I’ve had a lengthy beer day, and this was a bit clacky to wind things up. Bad choice, on my part..

On tap @ the Stockbridge Tap. This really did give me such a pleasant surprise. Recently I’ve been getting quite bored with coffee porters or stouts as I find them a little one dimensional. The hazelnut has produced the extra dimension on this occasion. The proportions of coffee and hazelnut really have been applied with a deft touch and it’s clear that the brewer has a very good palate. I will look out for their beers in future.

Auburn coloured ale, no head. Has an aroma that does include both nut and coffee, although it’s the former that is more apparent in taste.

Herber, würzig milder Antrunk. Leicht nussig, rund, zum Ende fast zu mild werdend. Wenig Schokolade, nett. 11/9/9/9//9

500ml bottle - Ruby red colour with frothy, white head. Fairly pale for a porter. Malty, roasted nose with fresh coffee and nuts. Malty, slightly roasted taste with coffee and hazelnuts. Tasty, a bit like one of those infused coffees from Starbucks. Interesting.
