Tap(RBESG2014): Deep amber coloured with a reddish sheen, small lacy off-white head; quite distinctive roasty and herbal-hoppy nose; moderate dry bitter flavour, quite light bodied; mild herbal-hoppy finish, dark malt or caramel barely detectable. Good, but not my cup of tea…

Brown colour, white head. Aroma of malts and hops, lots of hops. Pineapple, tropical fruits and citrus. Hoppy flavour, bitter, malts, light chocolate. Light bodied, as could be expected. Finish chocolate and hops. Nice!

Bottle from the Grumpy Goat, Reading. Slightly murky dark brown with a light fizz and a huge, craggy beige head - took some time to fit it in the glass. Great whiff- flowers, chocolate, pine and tinned mandarins. Huge hoppy bitterness up front on tasting, then more pine, burnt malt, those mandarins again, a little spice and a bourbon biscuit finish. The body is better than you’d expect for a beer of this strength. Surprising burst of sweet lime on the finish. Impressive complexity for a beer with such a low ABV; just a little too bitter for my taste, perhaps, but I rather enjoyed it nevertheless.

Tap at Brewery during RBESG 2014 - black pour with small off white head. Roasted malty and citrus fruity aroma and taste, with some dark dried fruits, very good.

Draught at the brewery. Dark brown color, small off-white head. Smell and taste lightly malts, way way more fruity than I had expected, slightly roasty in the back of your throat, but otherwise hops and fruitiness. Probably the first dark beer that really tastes like a pale ale. Nicely done.
