Keg at Redchurch during the RBESG 2014. It pours deep brwon with a small white head. The nose is toasty, earth, roasted malt, coffee, dried fruits and candied citrus peel. The taste is bitter, roasted malt, toast, earth, caramel, peppery citrus, coffee and dried fruits with a dry finish. Light body and fine carbonation. Packs a lot of flavour for the abv. Very nice.

On draught at the brewery. Reddish-brown pour with a beige head. Nose of blackberries, citrus and red berries. Dark fruit explosion in the flavour with a hint of strawberry jam. Goes down nicely.

Draft - Dark roast, coffee and hoppy fruit. Deep cloudy dark brown with a decent white head. Roasty, hoppy and coffee in the finish. Although alight body, big flavours that almost put this int Black IPA. Brilliant for the ABV.

Keg at the Brewery. Very dark Coca cola brown. A bit hazy. Tropical fruit, resin and wood pulp in the aroma. Initial mild sweetness gives way to tempering bitterness. The bitter aftertaste hits after a suspenseful quiet in the flavour profile. This is very good.

Bottle from AlesByMail.co.uk. Dark brown body, with a big, frothy, beige head, that leaves a thick lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, nuts, citrus, orange, red berries, peach. Taste with about the same aromas, great balance of roasted malts and fruity, citric hops. Mouthfeel is medium to light, slick, with a low carbonation and it finishes full and long, again with a great balance of roast and citrus notes. Wow, this is the best beer with such a low alcohol I’ve ever had! Amazing, like a tasty, complex and greatly balanced Black IPA, but with almost third the ABV. Really an accomplished brew!

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Clear, very dark, reddy brown. Huge, bubbly, lasting, tan head. Lovely aroma of Vimto cordial. Pine resin. Chocolate malt. Taste is red fruit dry. Fair amount of pithy bitterness, too. Decent body, given the ABV. Finish is dry, with a long, lingering, grapefruit bitterness. Excellent.

330ml Bottle - Dark brown with red tinges and a foamy head. Soapy hops, pine and liquorice in the aroma. Roasted, hoppy and slightly metallic taste with notes of soapy hops, liquorice and roasted malt. Not really a mild in my book, more like a low strength black IPA.

330ml bottle from Ales by Mail

BBE 9.8.2014 - Pours dark brown, almost black with a thick head. Aroma of pure hops, loads of grass, exotic fruits, citrus, resinous notes and pine. Some mild hints of caramel and malts. Taste is smooth, hoppy and watery with grass, fruits, some hints of toasty malts, nuts and caramel. Finish is hoppy, watery and slightly malty with hints of licorice, lingering bitterness and grass. Quite light bodied, but still surprisingly complex for the low ABV. Feels like a watered down version of a nice hoppy black IPA. A tasty sessionable beer nevertheless.
