A dark and foreboding ale, London Porter is a brew of mystery and intrigue. Hidden within its shadowy depths are lurking notes of coffee, chocolate and smoke. Just like its namesake city, there is always more to discover in London Porters unlit complexity.

Re-rate at MS HW, 24/11/18. Good reoasty bite, chocolate, spice, charr, toffee, dried fruits ... a well rounded and solid cask porter upped from 3.4 to 3.6. Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green, 29/03/14. Light black with a good sized tan covering that retains well. Nose is roast malt, light smoke, dark malt, charred wood, dark toffee, earthy cocoa. Taste comprises cocoa powder, light smoke, dark toffee twang, hint of wood, light liqourice, hint of vanilla. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Solid enough porter.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is creamy caramel roasted malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a slightly watery malt liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A superb porter I must say and my first Red Squirrel beer.

Cask at the St Albans beer festival 2013. Dark caramel with ruby red noutes. Loose cream head. Aroma is clean red berry hop slight choc. Slight choc. Flavour is clean fruity berry and choc. Mid palate. Bottle at home, more enjoyable. Good lasting cream head and chalky palate bump this one up a few points.
