The aroma of Troubadour Magma X immediately reveals its barrel aged character with a fruity whiskey nose. This time we offer you a version of Troubadour Magma without the typical exotic citrus aromas. The very bright beautiful warm colour is typical for whiskey.
In the taste you will recognise the malty character, caramel and spicy notes, followed by a sherry-like honey-sweet softness. The warmth of the alcohol and the taste of wood, vanilla and light tannins provide an extra finish and soft bitterness that reverberate for a long time.

Bottle from a local bottle shop. Nice barrel aroma with oak, malt, and soft vanilla. Hops have faded. Touch of marzipan, dried fruit. The flavour is a bit sweet and mild bitter. Medium body. Nice, but there's not much left of the IIPA character.

Les diverses versions de notre chère Magma ont connu des succès divers et même les meilleures n'arrivaient pas à la hauteur de l'originale. J'étais quelque peu sceptique avec cette version X car les vieillissements en fut ne sont pas forcément réussis avec des IPA. Et là, je dois avouer qu'ils ont été particulièrement bons pour doser le temps de barriquage pour que celui-ci vienne agrémenter la bière sans la dénaturer. Le visuel est tout comme la Magma avec une robe ambrée voilée avec une fine effervescence et une mousse blanc cassé nappant la surface. Au nez, le chêne et le whisky agrémente très bien notre IPA. Et à la dégustation, ce qui est très agréable c'est que la première impression est celle de la Magma de base mais en bouche la bière évolue en laissant s'exprimer le chêne et le whisky. Mais celui ne prend pas l'ascendant et vient sublimer la bière. Le titrage qui a gagné 1 % est impeccable. Une très belle réussite.

Clear gold to orange beer, big creamy off-white head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: caramel, malts, bit sweet, hoppy, some tropical fruits, citrus notes, bit oxidized. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: bit sweet, oxidized, caramel malts, vanilla, sugary, gentle bitterness. Aftertaste: sweet and sugary, gentle bitterness, malty, bit oxidized, orange peel, vanilla touch.

Ruikt behoorlijk zwaar, vanille, eik, American barleywine achtig. Smaakt naar de Amerikaanse barleywine van weleer, waarvan je compleet naar de tering gaat. Lomp. De Mikkeller Foret serie. Wat is dit mooi. Meer van dit op de markt graag.

Fles gedeeld door BramL. Het is een gelig bier met een dun schuim. Het heeft een kruidige whisky achtige geur. De smaak is verrassend, zoet, fruitig, marsepein en whisky achtig met een bittere afdronk.

A little lighter in colour compared to the regular version. Aroma has elements of caramel and berry fruits. The light malt sweetness of whiskey comes through too. Flavour continues in that theme with malt sweetness dominating. There's some muted tropical fruit notes too. Slightly warming in the finish.
