50cl bottle, thanks to Lewis. Pours a lovely black with a reasonable creamy head that falls away to a thin layer of lace. Nose has liquorice, coffee and chocolate. Taste has rich creamy toffee, then a long, long liquorice finish. Palate has a big structure, a creamy middle section and a long dry finish. Overall, I like this a lot.

Bottle at my East Croydon tasting, thanks to Leighton. It pours dark brown with ruby highlights and a very thin beige head. The nose is burnt rubber, light liquorice, spice, saw dust and wet wood. The taste is liquorice, caramel, tar, burnt sugar, toast, nut, brown sugar, cough syrup and wood, with a sweet finish. It doesn’t smell all that nice, but the taste makes up for it.

Bottle at the East Croydon Beer Tasting. Pours brown with a small, tan head. Has a sweet, dark malt aroma, bit of candy, molasses. Very sweet flavor, slightly oily, mild peat, plenty of sugar, licorice. Medium bodied with soft, fine carbonation. Sweet, slightly syrupy finish, some rich bread, light roast, brown sugar, toast, mild peat. I really like it.

500ml bottle. Pours near black with a thin head. Aroma is peaty smoke with some liquorice underneath. Taste is mostly peat with some liquorice in the finish. A little oily, could be fuller for the strength.

Bottled. Pitch black colour, small brown foamy head. Aroma is liquorice, caramel and quite nice wooden nose. Flavour is strong salted liquorice, along with some wood and roast + caramel malts. Salty finish. Strange brew, but at the same time quite pleasant.

Bottled (at ChrisO’s, BB 01/2010). Dark nut brown color, small steady beige head. Oak, licorice and strong cardboard in the nose. Very intensive flavor of salted licorice. Long salty aftertaste. Liquerish palate. Bottle has most likely past its prime, because aroma was not very good, but powerful salt licorice flavor is still there.

Bottle at the Spotify tasting. Diacetyl and liquorice aroma. Just not my thing, I’m not a fan of liquorice and I like diacetyl even less.
