Hazy straw yellow colour, small mousy white head, mostly diminising, fair lacing. Aroma pale malt, lemon, grapefruit, green fruit, grass. Taste medium sweet and light sourish, light bitter touch, wheat, lemon, grapefruit, spicy notes. Light body, watery texture, soft carbonation, sweet and sourish aftertaste, light wryish bitter notes. Peculiar brew, a kind of crossover of a witbier and an IPA, good thirst quencher, very nice.

The latest addition to date to this Brussels-based “Drink Drink” brand of organic beers; bottle from an organic shop in Ghent. Snow white, mousy, medium thick, stable head on an initially clear, pale straw blonde beer with lots of enthusiastic sparkling, turning misty with sediment. Aroma of dried field flowers, freshly cut grass, white bread crumbs, green apple, straw, withering cucumber, dried out lime peel, dust. Fruity onset but in a restrained and cleanish way, aspects of hard pear, unripe banana and some green apple as well as a vague unripe melon note, sweetish and sourish; fizzy carb, smooth and soapy mouthfeel, the soapiness evidently coming from the wheat. Slick white-bready, cereally and continuously wheat-soapy middle with a clear streak of soft wheat sourishness and dried flower and vague old citrus peel hop aromas, elegant but nowhere New World-like contrary to what I was expecting; ends bready, softly but effectively bitter and wheat-soapy, with green fruit and light spicy yeasty notes lingering. An elegant summer quencher, in all, but I would never classify this as a white IPA in the Anglo-Saxon sense of the word: this is essentially a wheat beer (more or less) the Belgian way influenced by that recent surge of low alcohol beers. Light, in fact even a bit too light for me, even on a summer day…

16/VII/20 - 33cl bottle from BioPlanet supermarket (Gent), shared @ home, BB: 27/IV/22, bottled: 27/IV/20 (2020-639)
Pretty clear bright yellow beer, big foamy thick head, stable, bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots of grass, some marijuana, bit yeasty, hint of citrus, slightly fruity, grapefruit maybe, but where are those Centennial, Nelson and Citra hops? Not enough hops? Bad quality hops? MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sourish, like you would expect from a white/wheat IPA, lemony, citrus, good bitterness, hint of grapefruit. Aftertaste: soft acidity, bit grassy, some grains, wheat, decent, could’ve been a De La Senne beer, but not fruity nor bitter enough for an IPA if you ask me.
