Today marks the release of our 5th collaboration with @brouwerij_boon, Cuvée Oude Henri.⠀
⠀
And my oh my, you are in for a special treat!!!⠀
⠀
This Oude Geuze consists of a blend of 1 and 3 year old lambic, that was aged on two special oak foeders which were originally used before by a French producer of a famous white bubbly wine. ⠀
⠀
We aren't allowed to mention its name, but you’ll definitely taste what we’re talking about 🥂⠀
⠀
We really treasure our yearly collaboration with Boon, because it allows us to push boundaries and play around with a very traditional beer style together with some of the most skilled lambic producers in the world. ⠀

Clear golden colour with lasting head. Aroma is noticeably more farmhouse than regular Boon. Tastes nicely sharp and has a tart fruitiness akin to a wine. The most obvious element of barrel influence is definitely the finish which is dry and oaky. The more I drink, the more champagne comes through.

375 ml bottle from MBC, bb 15/06/2040. Golden-orange, moderate hazy body, with a big, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of wood, straw, cheesy funk, apricot, white grapes, apple, some citrus. Tastes quite similar, with the champagne barrel more prominent. Medium, slick mouthfeel, with a quite lively carbonation. Finishes smooth, medium dry, wooden, vinous, slightly funky, fruity, with champagne, grapes, citrus, green apple. Tasty! Really smooth and balanced, with the champagne barrel greatly integrated, leaving room for funky and fruity notes. Drinks extremely fresh and elegant, enjoyed this a lot! Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 17

Bottle shared at kermis' birthday tasting. Bit hazy golden with fluffy white head. Typical Boon funk, indeed some white wine and champagne, grassy, wheat, gooseberries. Just medium sweet and sour, very light bitter. Solid medium bodied with sparkly carbonation. Nice.

Pours rather clear, tad darker blonde. Medium sized, creamy, very stable white head. Scent is intense funky, wood, complex. typical Boon fruityness. more sharp and refined than regular Boon. Taste is sharp, acidic, very mellow. mild fruityness. rather intense malty, creamy finish. Very mild grape character from the wine. Very refreshing. Refined geuze. Me like !
