Verdita Sour

Originally brewed for Magic Rock’s Sesh Fest 2018. Inspired by those Tequila Tuesday evenings at North Bar — a longer, more sessionable version of tequila’s delicious best friend. With lime, coriander, mint, chilli and pineapple, this incredibly refreshing sour is light but bursting with flavour.

330ml can bought at the Sparrow Bier Café, Bradford. Very pale yellow, almost straw with a full ring of white head. Lemon and lime zest prominent in the aroma. Lightly sour and fruity taste. Okay, but a bit more like a Sprite than a beer. Maybe a bit of mint but otherwise I'm not getting any of the other Verdita characteristics. Very short finish with light citrus notes in the aftertaste. Heavy carbonation. A lot more dull than I thought it would be.

On tap at the Trembling Madness Mansion, York 19/8/2018. Hazy yellow, with a thin, white, head. Tart pineapple notes, prominent lime character and a touch of green herbs, leading to a slightly sour finish. Fine.

Keg at The Plasterers Arms, Bristol. It pours bright tangerine with a quickly dissipating white head. The aroma is sweet - sour, oily, tangy, big lime character, limeade, lemonade and pineapple chunks. The taste is dry, tart, tangy, big tangy lime character, lemony, decent mouth - pucker, pineapple and a kick of chilli warmth on the back - end. Medium body and fine carbonation. I think this works rather well. Chilli is not overdone. Nice.

Keg @ Drink? Hebden Bridge. Amber-orange with lime and ginger prevalent, with the ginger just dominating. It's quite sour and its ingredients somewhat overbearing.

On keg at Drink? Shared with ManVsBeer. Unclear golden body. No head, minimal lacing. Lime and ginger on the nose. Taste of lemony tartness joined by lime and ginger. Okay cleanser. (Hebden Bridge 04.07.2018).
