Imperial Stout with Mackinac Fudge Coffee, Maple Syrup and Chocolate Aged in Oak Bourbon Barrels
Michigan didn’t invent old-fashioned fudge, but it was perfected here. We pay tribute to this time-honored tradition with KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge. By amplifying the rich chocolate notes of KBS using Mackinac Fudge coffee, then adding maple syrup and aging it in oak bourbon barrels, we’ve created a bold new take on our barrel-aged classic – one that could only have originated in Michigan.

Black with a small tan head. Aroma of cocoa, big coffee, cold brew, maple syrup, vanilla, fudge and chocolate milkshake. Flavour is light heavy sweet and bitter. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. It’s nice like a box of chocolates, tasty stuff but doesn’t improve in the original. The extra stuff going on seems to detract from the bourbon.

Bottle. Dark brown pour. Delicious aroma of fruity coffee, caramel fudge, bourbon vanilla, malt, dates, chocolate and maple. Taste has rich fruity coffee, smooth caramel fudge, bourbon vanilla, chocolate, malt, maple, soft bourbon booze and figs. Very good, kbs amplified with fudge, brings out the fruity coffee and chocolate even more. Great variant.

Die KBS Serie zählt wohl zu dem besten, was die Stout Welt je gesehen hat. Auch dieser Vertreter spielt wieder ganz vorne mit. Und ist dabei so unfassbar gut trinkbar, dass man sich ungefragt direkt mit ins Fass legen möchte. Top Notch!

12 ounce bottle from Wine Cellar Depere, 12/21/20. Bottle 10/14/20. Black, large fizzy tan head, good retention. Aroma of fudge brownies, maple, roast, vanilla. Taste is roast, maple, dark chocolate, chocolate syrup, oak. Thinner than expected, moderate booze. Nice, but could use some aging.

Bottle from TWSP shared with Drake via Zoom. Black with a large brown head. Ohman that smells like a fucking brownie. Fudge, caramel, chocolate, vanilla. Flavor is brownie, chocolate, maple, cocoa, caramel, finally barrel... long, lingering finish. Very tasty.

Pours a fairly thick, oily brown, with smallish tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, bourbon, some oak. Flavors follow, largely, though it's more of a cocoa than outright fudge. Plus some dark fruit, a touch of leather. The ABV is well-hidden, given the provenance.

Bottle. Pours a deep and dark brown with a pretty decent head of tan foam. Aromas are think with cocoa... less fudge and more Nesquik, but that's me being picky. There is a touch of coffee and vanilla in the nose too, but the cocoa is pretty overwhelming and seems to bury any subtle aromas. Flavor is a big bomb of cocoa/fudge with a little bit of a KBS-like stout hiding under it. I'm surprised that they could mask the KBS here so well... heh. It's pleasant enough, but I'm not sure it is an improvement over the original. It's just a chocolate bomb that is a little overly sweet. Can't wait to crack another bottle in six months to see what happens here.
