Bottle. Reddish amber color. Blueberries and tannines in the aroma. Blueberries, tannies in the fairly dry flavor. Soft berry fruit. Thinnish but the balance is still OK. Likeable.

The original embodiment of this beer, now brewed by Toëtelèr in two different variants but originally this was the beer the way this blueberry farm in Limburg commissioned it from Gaverhopke. Thanks to tderoeck for sharing. Gusher apparently – unsurprisingly, coming from Gaverhopke… Thick and foamy but rather loose, lacing, somewhat dirty pinkish-tinged off-white head over a hazy orange blonde beer with salmon pinkish tinge. Aroma already a bit oxidized, in an unpleasant, ‘rusty’ kind of way but not completely overpowering yet; sugared forest fruit jam and blueberry lemonade, white bread, cooked sweet cherry tomatoes, white sugar, touch of lemon juice. Red apple- and strawberry-like notes in the onset, blueberry (juice) of course but seemingly less so than in the current versions, still providing sourish edges around a primarily sugary sweet flavour, made lighter by fizzy carb and a light, supple mouthfeel. Bit sticky in the end but not in very artificial or candy-like way, the sourness providing some balance and the berry juice flavour in general feeling relatively genuine, penetrating a simple, ‘white bready’ maltiness. Retronasal oxidation and lingering blueberry juice sweet-and-light-sourishness in the finish, hardly any noticeable hop bitterness. Not as bad as feared, but the gushing, thinner berry juice profile and obvious oxidation made this less pleasant than what I remember from the current Toëtelèr versions so in that sense this commissioner made a good choice to change brewer.

GUSHER ALERT!

Somehow I never felt like tasting this one, and it kept sitting and sitting in my stock until this day. As soon as I opened, I remembered again why I never felt like it. Another huge gusher from Gaverhopke exploded all over my kitchen sink (duh, no risks). A clear rust brown to reddish beer with a small creamy white head, little stable, bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: sweetish, lots of blueberry jam, that's something all right... rather dirty and sourish, oxidized as well. MF: very lively carbon, medium to light body. Taste: lots of blueberries, little bitter, oxidized, bit sourish. Aftertaste: fruity, bit oxidized again, blueberries, bit sweet, more blueberry jam. Actually not even that bad, and I would've thought it was gonna taste completely infected, but maybe they just used way too much bottling sugar?

Roze licht rood bier met schuim. Smaak is licht zuur en weinig uitdagend.

Hazy amber color, short head. Aroma of spicy belgian yeast, hint of berries, some caramel. Quite sweet taste, slight fruity sourness. Not that bad, but just really boring.

Bottle at the De Molen Second Tuesday tasting, September 2013. Poured a hazy dark amber with a thin broken white head. The aroma is rich malt and fruit. The flavour is medium sour with lots of apple acidity and yeast on the crisp zesty palate.
