Juleavslutning på Mi2 Cardinal des-20, og julestemningen er definitivt sikret med denne flasken i særdeles elegant forpakning! Imponerende ren og samtidig kompleks, vinøs aroma og smak med sviskeplommer, honning, marsipan, lær, søte kirsebær og mørke dessertchokolader. Superb drikke i adventstiden, takk til seremonimester Melberg for denne generøse utskjenkingen!

Dec. 2020: 330 ml bottle in metal cylinder, bottle #0729/3600, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 15.5%, 50 IBU. Black colour, small beige head. Intense aroma of oak, hints of roast malts and honey. Very sweet and very oaky (nearly oaked to death) flavour, notes of roast malts, honey, raisins, chocolate and old sherry, some hop bitterness in the finish. An extreme beer, but does not quite live up to the hype.

Bakgården Både & 151020. Black color with a beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, sherry, chocolate. Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol coffee, sugar, sherry, raisin, wood, honey, berries. Complex very nice beer.

150ml draught at Agenturet Øl og Vinbar. Thanks to Finn for the treat. Plain black body, dotted spots on the glass, bare naked surface. Inviting aromas of sherry chocolate. Well blended taste of chocolate malts, raisin, prunes and oak. Sherry-like impression. Long lived chocolate finish with warmth for integrated alcohol. Well bodied. Mighty fine sipper. Svart. Mokkafarget skumring. Bæraroma. Smaken svisker & tørket frukt. Søt. Hint av sherry i en lett tørr avslutning.

On tap @ Bakgården. Tasting like the regular Nordic Noir just with some nicely integrated aromas and flavors of Sherry, raisins and mild wood. Not so much impact of the barrel itself like vanilla etc. except from the obvious sherry/fruit part. Almost difficult to decide which of the two I enjoyed most. For a few sips the immediate flavor of ‘more is better’ the Shery version is best, but after comparing these a few times the incredible balance in the original version is appreciated a lot. It’s a bit like ‘Everyone likes cake but it's harder to get a cake lover to love something that is not sweet and fat.’ The score has to be like this, but I’m actually more impressed above the regular version.

Bottle. Black. Roast, licorice and sherry in the aroma. Rye. Sweet alcoholic flavor with rye, raisin, alcohol, sherry and dried fruit. Firm, warming, powerful.

Dark brown with thin head. Aroma has some amaretto with the woody nuttiness and the sweet sugary honey. Elements of liquorice, pine , tawny port, raisins. Really dry finish.
