Sometimes ingredients are so unusual and delicious we have to let them stand alone in our Modern Sour Beer. Honeyberries are hardy hybrid fruits which thrive in Scotland, a crazy cross of blueberries and blackberries with a notably 'wild' edge.

Tap at Brewdog Birmingham. A clouded reddish amber coloured pour with a a creamish pinkish head. Aroma is jammy apricot, passionfruit, sticky. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, juicy, passionfruit, guava, pineapple, lovely. Palate is sticky sweet, tangy. Mellow carbonation.

Bouteille 375ml split with Vincent and Isa, BB 26/5/2023.
Couleur orange/ambre, col léger blanc-cassé.
Arôme au bouquet très frais, fruité en avant avec une senteur douce - pas pour rien que le mot 'honey' est utilisé pour cette baie ? sorte de senteur entre baies et melon. Rétro-nasal sur un léger côté funk.
Palais prend de suite le ton sur une douceur fruitée avec un retour fleuri assez léger en retrait - cela s'accompagne par des notes fruitées - baies sauvages, noires - ici, je suppose le honeyberry - comme quoi, il y a toujours des nouveaux fruits à découvrir. Une acidité modérée perdure tout au long, ici, la sensation de douceur fruitée passe mieux que sur la version Raspberry Skies où la vanille avait été ajoutée.

Cloudy deep ruby to purple beer, small creamy pink to purple head, adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots of berries, tannins, funky, blackcurrant. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sweet, very sourish, lots of tannins, bitter, blackcurrant skin. Aftertaste: dry, juicy, sourish, lots of berries, tannins, fruity, more blackcurrant and blackberries.

375 ml bottle. Pours murky dark blood red with a pink head. Full ripe red currant and cassis, cranberries, red elderberries, black cherries, jam, lime, light red wine, some balsamic vinegar, hints of honey. Fruity acidic sourness, some berry sweetness. Full bodied, oily texture, lively carbonated, dry sour finish. Really good.

Bottle. Hazy, dirty ruby red, medium reddish head, nonlasting. Nice and fresh nose, sweet and soury combination, berries. Puckery sourness, somewhat tart in the character. Some sweetness to it. Gentler aftertaste. Medium body, silky. Very fine. Loved it.
