Tap. Dark brown color. Vinous aroma with grapes, rye bread and amandelspijs. Thinnish, but with a rounded sourness. Oak, grapes, sherry. Lovely and complex beer.

Bottle shared from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of funk, tart cherry, lactic notes, tart overripe dark fruits, malt and light caramel. Flavour is moderate sweet and sour. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

01/06/2019 - tasting glass kindly offered by Leopold himself (thanks!) during Brouwers in het Bos, Ename. Amber brown coloured, small off-white head. Nose is sour red fruit, dark malts. Taste is red fruits, sweet and sour touch, bit grapes, bit caramel, soft roast, salty touch, bit wood, dry fruity ending. Nice! complex!

I Draught /I Bit disparate greyish white head over jet-black beer. Nice woody, lactic acid touch, hints @ red fruit and liquorice. More of the same in the mouth, but tastewise just a slightly bit empty in body. Fruity notes haven't followed either, but the lactic acid and wood are there, just a hint of chocolate. Light body, not much carbonation, bit slick, wood-dry. Despite the criticism, I rather like this! Maybe a soupçon of chocolate malts might have helped?

Oak, mouldy tartness, subtle cherries. Underwhelming. 3.4
