First up, a sour IPA inspired by the colours and flavours of rainbow Astro Belts. We started with a simple hazy IPA base of pale barley malt and plenty of oats, backed up with lactose to round out the mouthfeel. We whirlpool hopped with Citra BBC and then fermented with our house IPA yeast strain.
We selected fruits to represent the colours of the candy that we felt worked well together. Leading with the ripe fruit flavours of mango puree and orange juice, we followed up with plenty of tangy raspberry puree, and finally, a touch of zingy lime juice to give a sour accent to the finish.

Can from BiervanEijk, Frederiksoord. Lots of mango in the aroma with orange, pastry fruits, lacto, passion fruit. Moderate sour flavour, fruity tartness. Medium body. Not bad, fruity and tropical tartness.

Draught Off-white head, medium large, over utterly muddy ochre-orange beer. Lupulin, hopoils, resin, but also cookie/pastry dough and a perfumey aroma, difficult to analyse. Preserved orange, orange blossom water. Sourish, faintly lactic, lemony flavour with fruity, estery hops in the background. Very good balance acidity-hoppiness. Very slight dry-out effect, saliva-inducing. Medium body but nowhere lean. Really good, but its looks are definitely not for the uninitiated.

Pours an ugly, muddy orange blonde. Small white head. Scent is full on malty, fruity ( candy) rather intense. Rhubarb, strawberry,.. Very complex. Taste is rather intense tart. Dry, tad yeasty. Rhubarb, acidic, but not straight up lactic only. Pearl necklace aspect ( candy type here in BE). Medium to medium full body, medium low Carbo. Surprisingly nice. Except for the color.

440ml can. Sweet, tart and stuffy with some lactic sourness, hints of jelly beans, fruits, pineapple and harsh vegetal hop burn. A bit unbalanced.
