Vintage Ale is a truly distinguished bottle conditioned beer. Each vintage is a blend of that year’s finest malt and hops, creating a unique limited edition brew. Being bottle conditioned, it is after bottling that the flavours truly begin to develop, and continue to do so well beyond the best before date that we are obliged to state.
The 2009 Vintage features Kent grown Golding Hops and East Anglian Tipple malted barly. It has an intial aroma of rich Muscavado sugar followed by a brandied caramelised [sic] orange palate and finishes with a creamy vanilla warmth.

The scent is fruity and nonsurprising. That’s why the surprise in taste was so big. A bit fruity to start with, but with a strong flavour of licorice directly afterwards. The somewhat high alcohol content fits in perfectly. Should buy one more bottle of this and store it for some years.

Sampled @ Copenhagen Beer Festival 2011 from bottle: Pours a beautiful cloudy rusty red body with a really low to-no off-white sidesticking head. Aroma is caramel, peaches, figs and malts. Has a smooth and silky texture and it's average carbonated. Flavors are vinous with some yeasty and fruity hints. Sweet figs and raisins combined with some toffee, and it ends mildly bitter with some alcohol in the aftertaste. Nice enough.

Aged 2 years. Pours deep amber into an english pint. Off-white micro head with excellent retention recedes to coat surface leaving scant spiders. Rum-soaked pit fruit and roasted nut aromas. Thick and hot with front to back dark caramel and pit fruit. Lasting dusty fruit finish. Warming.

Bottle that I had been ageing which was tried alongside a 2007 and a 2010 consumed 25.12.10 Pours amber orange with a white head, bit frothy though soon departs. The aroma is sweet, fruity and with a little hoppiness but not too much. Big beer, bit chewy, but also has started to soften with a bit of age on it, some light banana touches, toffee and caramel with a touch of alcohol soaked fruit. A7 A3 T7 P3 Ov14 3.4
