Gravity cask at the Old Transporter Ale House, Henlow Camp. Honey brown, thin-looking, clear and flat. Light woody aroma. Taste is sweet, floral and fruity but not particularly engaging. Weak and thin body. I just can’t get very excited about this, a pretty boring bitter really.

Bottle from Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear chestnut brown with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is fresh, big fruit and malt. It’s one of the nicest English ales I’ve ever smelled. The flavour is slightly weak medium bitter, with lots of malt on the palate. A very tasty beer. A super English ale.

Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Amber gold with a dense cream head; cereal grain aroma; creamy texture and a grainy body; with some light grapefruit bitterness to finish. A pleasant session beer.
