What began as mutual admiration between Sierra Nevada’s Grossman Family and Russian River’s Cilurzos has grown and progressed into genuine friendship. Brux began as an idea and has grown into something altogether different: The liquid manifestation of change over time.
Refermented in the bottle with Brettanomyces Bruxellensis, Brux will change and develop over time. Copper-colored, dry and complex, with slightly tart notes of green grass, pear, spice and lemon - this ale will progress in the bottle for many years.

Clear gold with a tall, fleeting white head. Drippy lacing. Aroma that is slightly tart, yeasty, fruity with a touch of Belgian funk character. The flavor is sweet on the front with some tartness that doesn’t quite cross the threshold of sourness. Some dryness at the finish. Alcohol well hidden.

Aroma: Sour with little wood notes. Bretts are showing up a lot. Can also find wild berries. Sour and acid aromatic base with wood and fieldberries. Visual: Golden blond, slightly hazy, head disapearing fast and sticking just a bit. Taste: Little fruits are again showing up with a lot of acidity. Not very hoppy. We can find lemon, lime and wood notes. A good balance between sugar, fruits and acidity. It is very hard for me to evaluate a style that I do not like. I’ll try to be as fair as I can by saying that it’s a good and aromatic wild ale.

At a tasting, thanks eyes_wide_shut and YK23, no head, a little deep hazy orange colour, flavour of apple, apricot, wood amd mustiness, feels cidery, flavour of white fruit, apples and some white wine, quite bitter and almost no sourness, unbalanced. Aroma is really complex but the flavour a real letdown.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks YK23 & eyes_wide_shut. Murky orange with a short-lived bubbly off white head. Bretty aroma with some fruitiness (apples and more), light vinegar notes, yeast, floral notes and a bit of malt. Yeasty flavor, a bit funky, with light sweetness, faint sourish notes and a slightly bitter finish. Medium-bodied with aggressive carbonation.

Bottle, 75cl corked. It pours an unclear, golden-orange body and a minimal-sized off-white head. The aroma is rather sweetish, with a touch of lemon and orange. canned pears and some hay. Some peppery hints too. It’s a tad carbonated for my likings, with a dry, full-bodied palate. Pale malt hints in the flavor, with peaches, canned pears, some sugary hints and a faint touch of black pepper. Long finish. Not very sour this one, it feels sweet without being it, and in general tastes quite nice. But nothing extraordinary going on. 130814

Craft Clerkenwell. Martin T tasting. Very hazy gold beer, little white head. Palate is light and airy. Mild fine carbonation. Very mellow sourness, barely there. Mild yeast and a tiny bit of dried fruits. Touch of lactose. Finishes semi dry. Unusually mellow but quite drinkable.
