On tap at Hoa Vien Brauhaus - Hanoi, pours a cloudy dark orange with a medium white head. Aroma brings out bready malt and a touch of grass. Flavour is clean, with light grass, cereal sweetness, and straw. Clean enough, with a smooth palate. Drinkable.

Draft - Soft and soapy grains. Clear gold with a small white head. Soft bitter grains and a light bready finish. If soap is just the glass this isn’t half bad.

Tap at the brewpub. Poured a slightly hazy light amber with a broken frothy white head. The aroma is lager malt some citrus and light hops. The flavour is moderate to light bitter with a light, fruity, hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Not bad and better than I expected. I could easily sink a few of these at this price. Shame my meal was six times the price of the beer!

Lager - a clear gold with a nice head of foam. The aroma is bready, grainy, sweet with mild hop bitterness. Clearly the brewmaster here cares. Sharp carbonation on a light body. It has a bracing bitterness of a clean classic lager. A really nice example of what a lager should be. Good.

30cl draft at the brewpub. Golden with a white head. Lightly fruity aroma with malt and some caramel. Sweet, but well balanced with hints of hops and some bitterness. Fresh and delicious and clearly one of the best Vietnamese beers I have tried. (2012-05-12)

Hanoi location. Deep gold. Soft carbonation. Fluffy head. Big rich saazy nose with lots of deep, tangy malts. Hoppy and moderately bitter. Medium bready, slightly doughy malts and a long hoppy finish. A sample at the Mui Ne location wasn’t nearly as hoppy, had butter issues and would have scored much lower.

Draught@brewpub, HCMC. Listed as Vien (Golden). Dark golden color, a bit hazy decent off-white head. Wort and sweet malts in the nose. Malty some unfermented sugars, some hoppy bitterness in the finish. Plain but drinkable.

Draught at HoaViên Brähaus, Hanoi location. Lightly hazy golden, small creamy head. Rather neutral aroma. Medium dry with light bodu and rounded mouthfeel. Despite it’s subdued hop aroma it blasts away into a resiny, really bitter finish. Well made!
