Bottle from Mr Lawrence. It pours very dark brown, thin off-white head. The nose is sweet dark fruit, caramel, icing sugar, chocolate and roasted malt. The taste is roasted malt, ash, charcoal, astringency, decent bitterness and wood, with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Decent.

Bottle at De Molen. Poured dark ruby red when held up to the light. Nice big frothy head. Lots of roasted malt in the aroma with malty coffee notes in the somewhat unique bitter flavour. An interesting aftertaste that stayed around for a while and became less pleasant over time. A decent ale that I would drink again, but it won't win too many awards. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
