Can from HavnensVinOgTobak. Pours opaque brownish black with medium brown head. Aroma is intense roasted malt, cherry syrup, dark chocolate brownie, ground coffee, roasted nuts, sweet raspberry flavoured liquorice, Vegemite and soy sauce. Taste is medium to very sweet, light bitter, medium salty and light acidic. Body is oily with light carbonation. Finish is long, very intense and mostly sweet and salty with notes of cherry, raspberry, sweet raspberry flavoured liquorice, salty liquorice, roasted malt, malt syrup, cherry syrup, light roasted pour over coffee and hints of vanilla, yeast and Vegemite. Very interesting.

On keg at the Hanging Bat. Appearance - mat black and opaque with a beige head. Nose - getting walnut and hazelnut rather than cherry. Chocolate and light toffee too. Taste - again, struggling to identify cherry, but something fruity and again the nuts and chocolate. Palate - creamy in texture, medium bodied, then very dry. Overall - a bit disappointing.
keg at the hanging bat ..mdark black ..thin tan lacing ..soft sweet black cherry nose ...soft sweet caramel ...soft roast ..massive cherry syrup

Sample (thanks fonefan!). Black colour, small beige head. Aroma is sweet cherries and other berries, alcohol, some sugar and overly sweet. Flavour is sweet cherries, sugar, some alcohol, dried fruits and a slight tart wooden/berryish edge to it.

440ml can. Poured almost black in colour with a short-lived, fizzy tan head. The aroma is big cherry. The flavour is strong sweet, with a smooth, somewhat light, roasty, tart cherry, light chocolate, sweet sugary, warm boozy alcohol palate. Medium bodied with average to high carbonation. The cherry totally dominates all the way through. The booze burns. The chocolate is almost undetectable. It’s an unrefined sweet, fizzy boozy fruit beer. Not exactly impressed.

Can, 10%. Roasted and sweetish cherry aroma. Black colour. Almost no head. The flavour has a lot of cherry, good marshmallow notes, roasted, citric, fat cherry. Flavourful, and not exactly balanced, but it works quite well.

Can. Pours cloudy very dark brown with airy dark tan head. Clear aroma of cake, with notes of cherries, chocolate, malt and yeast. Dry flavour of cherries, with sweet notes of chocolate, malt and yeast, touches of ginger and hints of hops. Bitter and dry aftertaste with notes of dark chocolate. Warming alcohol presence. Yummy.
