On tap(nitro). Black body with a creamy brown head. Aroma of chocolate, cream, coffee, toast and floral hops. The taste has loads of chocolate, coffee, toast, dark sugar, cream, dark fruits and floral hops. Creamy but finishes dry and bitter. Great stout.

Keg at The Angel, is that Holborn? Only the vaguest of aromas. Something roasty and malty. Looks damn good - jet black with a thick light beige head. Sweet with some bitterness out there, not waving but drowning. A sour berry chocolateness but very low key. Light-medium bodied. Pretty watery. Flat. Very low key finish. Inoffensively drinkable, i.e. doesn’t taste of much, wet and cold.

Extremely dark brown to black colored, strong creamy lasting tan head. Aroma is very nice, roasted malt, barley and chocolate. Taste is low to medium sweet milk chocolate, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, dry bitter cocoa finish. Medium- bodied, soft carbonation, creamy. Excellent stuff! (on tap, Earl of Lonsdale, London)

Keg tap at the Maypole, Cambridge. Extremely black with a perfect tight cream-coloured head. Slight liquorice aroma with hints of coffee bean. I can taste the spicy liquorice, but only just. Balanced bitter aftertaste. Medium body. I’m sure this is good but it’s hard to get too much of a sense of it. All the personality seems to have been lost in the temperature (too cold) and the forced carbonation.
