Keg at Glasshouse Stores, Soho. It pours jet black with a thick, dense light tan head. The nose is toasty, earthy roast, coffee grounds, mild smoke and cocoa. The taste is bitter, roast, peppery, charred wood, ash, mild acidity and a touch of cocoa with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Very solid dry stout.

Keg @ Doocot, Edinburgh [160513]
Very dark brown black, dense nitro tan head, some lacing
Aroma of dry roasted malts, some roasted barley, not a lot on the nose
Taste of dry roasted malts, quite bitter roast, some dark chocolate malts with a dab of dark sweet malts
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, fairly bitter palate. Finish as main flavour with a fairly dry bitter roast tail and some bitter chocolate.
Overall - This is superior to Guinness, more flavour and a bit stronger. Maybe the finish is a tad over bitter.

15th January 2013
Old Anchor, Tower Bridge. Clear but very dark brown beer. Good luxuriant cream coloured head. Palate is soft and dry. Dry dark malt with dry roasty bitterness. Offset by estery bubblegum and a little malt cream. The bitterness in the dry finish is both roast malt and hops. A robust low stout for it’s abv.
