Bottle from Lidl, Athlone [061016]
Caramel brown, off white head
Aroma - Initial skunk dissipated (clear bottle), sweet caramel malts, toffee malts
Taste of caramel malts, very light bitter hops, malty, some toffee, hint of toasted malt, quite like this, old fashioned
Palate - Soft carb, medium light body, light sweet malts. Finish as main flavour, smooth sweet malts
Overall - Despite initial aroma, better than expected, not too bad, nice to have a malty beer when there are so many hoppy beers about

500ml bottle from Lidl. Pours clear mahogany with a thin, but long-lasting white head. Aromas of grain, malt, brown malt specifically, and light british herbal hops. Taste has some bitterness to back up the sweetened coffee. Palate a bit thin. OK.

50cl bottle from Lidl. Copper coloured with a thin, fading, white head; aroma of roasted grains; in the mouth the grains are toasty with lots of sweet caramel - not sure if I’d spot the oats if I hadn’t read the description, but once you know they are there they stand out; the finish is rather lacking, but overall this isn’t a bad "heavy" style bitter.

500ml bottle from Lidl. Dark brow beer with thin near white bottle. Some caramel, some malts, some diacetyl. In the mouth is a rather boring darkish malt beer with a pasteurised malt body. Bitter on finish, without much actual hop flavour. Just too buttery and a bit boring to be honest. Oh dear. Ugh.
