Deliciously refreshing, this pale golden ale will quench the driest palate on those long hot summer days. The distinct hoppy, fruity aroma is complemented by a wonderful combination of malt and spicy citrus flavours. A brew with a good bitter bite and hoppy finish. ABV from 4% to 3.8%.

50cl bottle from Lidl, Camberley. A pale amber pour with a billowing white head; aroma of Shep yeast and malt; fresh grassy bitter taste; and a touch of spice to finish. A fairly standard bottled Shep beer.

Light golden ale with next to no head. Typically Shepherd Neame with its soapy hoppy aroma. Fairly tasty.

50cl bottle. ok white head. Clear golden blond pour. Ok, not as good as other Sheperd & Neame beers.

Cheap supermarket beer bought in a cheap supermarket: clear 500ml bottle, best before July 2012, drank Oct 2011. Poured into a UK pint sleeve: Pale golden body with very little head, could have been a Lager/Pilsner by looks. There wasn’t much aroma, even as the beer warmed in the glass. Hops, spicey hops maybe, but very little smell all round. Citrusy and hop bitter, not a lot of malts about: refreshing but missing any depth or finesse, this is an unsophisticated brew designed to quench thirst rather than entice the drinker into taking their time and savouring its few qualities. Another brew by Shepherd Neame which leaves me wondering why I bother buying their bottled stuff.
