Can from www.drankgigant.nl Webshop, Vlissengen, Netherlands. Consumed at home Sunday 2nd May 2021. We had homemade Lasagne alla Cacciatora for tea and it was great. Watching The Innocents on Netflix. Pours black with a beige head. Thick in the mouth, great aroma from the barrel ageing, however I would have sworn this was a whisky barrel and not cognac, I even thought that I was getting some peatiness, the barrel ageing really dominates, the usual strong porter characteristics are here, there is chocolate and liquorice for instance, but they have been pummelled into submission by the barrel ageing. Moutheel pleasant but not as thick as expected, btw the would still say whisky barrel aged, smokiness and peatiness dominates

Can from Beerdome. Black with a brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, coffee and cognac. Flavor is very sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and moderate bitter finish with lots of warming alcohol. Oily. 010521

Black with quick fading dark head. Aroma starts with grassy woody notes. I get some boozy sweet cognac in the aroma. Flavour is quite different with dark chocolate and leathery whisky and peat. Luscious, oily texture.

0.33 l can from 'Ace Drinks', best before October 2025. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, stable, light brown head. Sweetish-malty, intensely smoky-medicinal, gently roasty and slightly fruity aroma of praline, licorice, peat, iodine and dark fruits. Quite sweet, malty, quite roasty, very smoky-medicinal and slightly fruity taste of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, licorice, lots of peat as well as iodine, dark fruits and some wood, followed by a long, quite roasty-bitter, extremely smoky-medicinal and a bit woody finish. Medium to full body, smooth and gently creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Lovely, intense beer, obviously Islay Whisky (ex-Cognac) BA, very complex due to unexpected fruity and woody notes. Very good!

33cl blik van Bierwinkel Alkmaar. Zwarte kleur, beige kraag. Dikke bak turf, whisky, geroosterde mout, caramel, chocolade, aards, hout, booze, meer turf, bittere finish. Volle body. Erg lekker, waarschijnlijk stond op t Islay-vat alleen nog de oorspronkelijke inhoud vermeld.

Can. Black pour. Aroma of smoke, peat, chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, licorice and burned caramel. Taste has savory peat, smoke, chocolate, coffee, licorice, ash, caramel, iodine and whisky. No way this is cognac, this is peated scotch. Label must be wrong. The beer is rich and full in flavor, no problem there.
