Can from Lekkerbier, Sint Nicolaasga. Aroma is smoky and peaty with roasted malt, chocolate, ash, oak, touch of caramel, long smoky aftertaste. Flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet. Body is medium. Cognac? It doesn't make sense. Peat and smoke all the way.

0,33l can at home on 19.01.2024. black color, small tan head. smells smoky, leathery, peated, some bitter chocolate. nice smell overall. full body, light carbonation. tastes of lots and lots of peat, not much else really. finishes lightly bitter with notes of peat. rather simple, too one-sided.

33cl can from Etre Gourmet web shop. F: thin, dark tanned, quick gone to some bubbles. C: dark, opaque. A: rich dark malts, peat tones, chocolate, coffee, woody, cognac. T: full malty base, chocolate, cocoa, a lot of peat, coffee, woody, cognac, bit phenolic, dark fruits, light oily mouthfeel, nice balanced bitterness, soft carbonation, really delicious, fully enjoyed.

Dark brown colour, brown foam. Roasty, notes of coffee, peat, sweet vinous notes. Well balanced. Strange to find peat in a Cognac BA beer, but it tastes good.

Can at home in Hackney - maybe picked up from HOTM. Pours black-brown with a frothy, beige head. Moderately sweet, rich peat, roast, nips of cocoa, subtle dark fruit. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, lingering peat, smoke, earth, cocoa. Outstanding,

Can. Opaque dark brown beer that not even direct sunlight can pierce, vibrant tan head. Nose is woody cognac, not subtle! Airy palate, fairly dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, nowhere near as heavy as you might expect from a beer like this. Touch of creamy malt sweetness. The barrelling is the No1 character here. Big Cognac, muscular with depth, spice, woodiness and some smoky character more familiar with various whiskies. Back end is a more fruity Cognac. A very nice Cognac delivery system here, much of the Cognac character in a 10% beer. Some more robust malt character would have really elevated it for me, still bloody good though.

Black, small tan head. Bit meaty peaty smell. Ah yes, Kees magical peated whisky cognac barrels. Good thickness, super creamy, warming. Taste is rich, sweet and very peaty, might be some trace of cognac sweetness even. Mixed barrels? Delicious anyways.

Small cream-tan head over virtually black beer. Smoke, phenolic, ashy, tarr. Rauchmalz. Sourish-smoked, dark to black bread, mild phenols, black chocolate. Wood backthroat. Very rich, voluptuous, chewy, velvety, alcoholwarming. That's a good one, Bubberman!
