Late Red is a complex and richly flavoured Autumn Ale. Slightly red in colour, this ale is a balance between rich, dark malt flavors and a strong and robust hoppiness.

Dark amber color. Some malt and caramel aroma; and light hops. Caramel taste, too dry in the beginning and a bit metallic; very light sweet liquorice. High bitterness, but not interesting. Ordinary.

Pours copper with a slight red tinge to it, and a cream head. The aroma is hard to pin down; some spice, some malt, some farm yard, and a touch of iron filings. Taste is predominantly burnt malt with a touch of hops. No where hear as good as the SN Goldings summer seasonal I tried just before this.

Bottle Sainsburys. Reddy/brown with large quickly disappearing head, malty flavour with some nuttiness, the previous poster is right there is definately a soapyish aroma there, ok beer but not great.

Bottled (BB 08/2005)
Deep red-brown color and small but steady off-white head. Typical English hoppy aroma with hints of toffee. Hoppy bitter, midly spicey but same time sharp watery mouthfeel. Leaves sweet oily and slightly bitter aftertaste. Quite typical Shepherd Neame product.
