Limited Edition #33.
Devout is our new Limited Edition. This delectably smooth stout is the answer to your prayers! It’s been a little while since we brought out a new dark beer and we’re really rather pleased with this one. Loosely based on the Devout stout we brewed four years ago this recipe has been modified by our master brewer who certainly knows his dark beers having won Champion Beer of Britain for his Mild at Mighty Oak.
Expect velvety smoothness and a long bittersweet finish. with notes of roasted coffee, liquorice and chocolate.

Dunno why this is split from the other version? Whatever! Near opaque dark brown beer, decent pale tan head. Palate is light and mildly dry, a decent fine minerally crispness. Thin chocolate malty biscuit base. Tangy thin coffee and a touch of red berries before a light, fairly dry and crisp finish. Leaves a mild bitter linger. Comes over as a nice mild.

500ml bottle delivered from Beautiful Beers, Bury St. Edmunds, and drunk at home. Dark brown, just a tiny bit translucent with a thin creamy khaki/tan head. Milk chocolate and liquorice are at the forefront of the aroma, with some blackberry notes in the background. Full sweet taste, more chocolate and liquorice here. it finishes sweet - very little bitter hoppy biteback here - but it's pleasant rather than cloying. Medium body and carbonation. An above average stout.

9/7/2020. Cask take-out from the Duke of York, Ipswich. Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma of chocolate, light roasted malt, coffee and dark fruits. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Moderate body, smooth texture, soft carbonation. Finish nice roasty and a little ashy. Quite tasty.
