23/6/2020. Sample courtesy of the SHIG, cheers! Pours deep amber bronze brown with a lasting off-white to beige head. Aroma of toffee, malt, slight smoke, stone fruits and golden syrup. Moderate sweetness and medium developing bitterness. Medium body, slight sticky, soft carbonation. Bitter, earthy finish. Tasty stuff. I have a bottle in stock carefully maturing so may rerate at a later date but this was good anyway. 20/2/2021. Bottle shared at the third Ipswich Lockdown 3.0 virtual bottle share. Suffolk vs Norfolk. BBE April 2021. From Beautiful Beers, Bury St Edmunds. Super barley wine aroma. But slightly disappointing taste, ashy, smoky, quite bitter. Bit odd and surprising.

Bottle: Poured a burnt orange with off white creamy but fast dissipating head. Aroma is big boozy, some hops. Taste is a bit smokey, peat like a scotch, malty, fruity, finishes dry.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Appearance - a beautiful deep autumnal red almost hinting at mahogany. Off white, almost fawn head. Nose - wood, booze, cherry and marzipan. Taste - wood, booze ans marzipan again. Walnuts at the back. Palate - full bodied and boozy. Dry woody and slightly gnarly finish. Overall - challenging but complex and worth the perseverance.

25th April 2020
Bright clear amber beer, good cream colour head. Airy palate, fairly dry, decent fine carbonation. Thin malts, but with a good tang, some classic 1970s beer tastes here, but ramped up. Tingling spice. Ripe citrus and overripe fruits. Smooth tangy fruity caramel finish. Seriously old school and quite flavoursome, could just do with a little sweetness.

330ml bottle: BBE Apr 2021. Drank at home on St George's Day 2020, during the virus Lock In. Left the sediment in the bottle, clean amber body, off-white crown. Malty front with some fruit cake like notes in both the nose and taste. Liked it.

Half-pint draught at Cambridge Blue. Covering beige head, misty copper coloured body. Lacing rings. Smell of earthy malts and dried fruits. Dried fruits, grain and almond flavour character. Well bodied. Nice, gets a tad too sweet in the long run. (Cambridge 10.07.2019).
