Big brown coarseish head. Black opaque body is just barely translucent dark red. Malty sugary aroma with medicinal notes of raisins and licorice. Dryish-sweetish papery medicinal licorice taste with dried plum notes. Hollow-bodied, kind of watery. Dry papery peppery licorice aftertaste. Some grassy hops, too. Too thin and watery. (0.355l bottle, Systembolaget, Göteborg.)

12 oz. bottle. Chocolate brown color with a minimal head. Caramel and dark fruit aroma with some roasted malt. Roasted malt taste with notes of raisin and bitter coffee. Medium bodied.

Bottle, 5.3%. Sweet dark malt aroma, slightly roasted with a hint of black liquorice. Clear very dark brown colour, hint of red. Small light brown head. The flavour is roasted with a little sweetness. Hint of brown sugar. Quite good, but a little more alcohol might have taken care of the slight grain note in the aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a longlasting tan head. Roasted malty chocolate aroma with some hoppy hints. Sweet smooth roasted malty chocolate flavor with some hints of caramel and some weak hints of hops. Sweetish malty finish with hints of chocolate and hops in the aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a little bit of a reddish tone where the light enters. Head sat around a half inch at first and died down fairly quickly. Aromas are of moist soil and a light amount of roasted malt. Flavor is of dark malt (more heavy than the nose would have led me to suspect) with a bit of an anise edge to it.

12 oz bottle from 2006 x-mas pack...color of pepsi...minor foam, just a suggestion, smells malty with a sour essence....watery body, has a maple characteristic to it....easy to drink with nice substance...I used to adore this brewery, and I still do to the extent that its an excellent entry to the world of micro brews...:)

Almost black in colour. Aroma is quite malty and sweet with a hint of caramel. Texture is fairly rich. Flavour is bittersweet and malty.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Clear, reddish chestnut brown with a small, off-white head. Fruity, berry-like nose. Medium-bodied with roasted malts and some burned caramel accents. Some malt astringency. Decent - but I believe the Germans would laugh at this to be considered a Schwarz. 080507
