It is dark cherry in color with a good brown head. The aroma is subdued, fuity, and woody. The taste is a nice balance of apple, berry, and hops. It’s a bit metallic and grainy at the end, but only a bit. Perhaps it’s overly carbonated.

Drank this straight of the bottle, so obviously I did not get the color of the beer, but since this is a black beer, I can only make assumptions. Ultimately, this wasn’t that bad of a beer... had a nice roasted taste with a sort of nutty finish. The beer itself was definately pretty hoppy. Didn’t notice the metallic or caramel tastes that some people said were there.

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Transparently black, average head. Aroma of resiny hops, metal and rec currant. The clean, hard crystal malt character gives a shiny metallic surface, but no depth. The pleasant hop character provides some interesting flavours and a soothing finishwith restrained bitterness. A decent beer with an awful bogus commercial description. This is extremely American in style, and I have no idea what they are talking about to when they are referring to it as a Bavarian style beer. Black Forest isn’t even in Bavaria.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 7 Oct) Dark brown colour, almost black, with ruby notes, small beige head. Malty, roasted nose with delicate chocolate aromas. Malty taste with roasted notes, chocolate, toffee, caramel and hints of Coca-Cola. Medium body, dry, moderately bitter finish. Smooth and creamy.

Bottled. Dark rubyish brown colour, small beige head. Aroma is malty, slight caramel and hoppyness. Flavour is metallic, malty, hoppy and breadish. Finish and aftertaste is mainly hoppy and leathery. Schwarzbier? hmmm... Also quite watery.

Had this beer out of a growler with a bear on it labelled "Black Lager" but this has to be the same beer. Looked a bit more watery than a stout but with a creamy head reminiscent of an aged stout. Only slightly roasted with a sweet flavor. No smoke for the most part. Clean finish. Not bad.

Really dark reddish brown in my three stooges glass. Surprized me with tan head. Initially a slight twist of bitternesss. Not too bad for a cheaper dark beer tho more expensive than yuenglings black & tan. Drank this before a few times. Cost was 88 cents a 12 oz bottle over at Beer for Less in Moon Township.

A deep red-brown beer with a thick brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of chocolate, and a citrusy hop note. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel at first, before notes of citrus and hints of chocolate joins in, leading to a dry and quite bitter end from a combination of roasted malt and hops. But the body is a bit thin, as You often find in Schwarzbiers. I find it like an American interpretaion of a Schwarzbier, and quite nice.
