Black Forest

Bottle. Medium tan head with medium duration. Color is dark ruby to black. Nice aroma of chocolate and roast malt. Taste is roast malt mainly.

Brown bottle, 12 ounces; eye: dark brown, opaque, beige head that falls rapidly and leaves a ring around the glass, light effervescence; nose: roasted malt, chocolate, hops (grain); mouth : sweeet, starts with its roasted side but rapidly covered by its caramel, hint of licorice, finale also sweet all in roasting, caramel and sweet bitterness with a hint of acridness, mildy sweet, lightly bitter, medium body, creamy texture, good carbonation; overall: good FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 12 onces; oeil : brune foncée, opaque, mousse beige qui s’évanouit assez rapidement laissant un petit anneau de mousse autour du verre, légère effervescence; nez : malt torréfié, chocolat, houblon (grain); bouche : toute douce, débute en torréfaction, puis est presque immédiatement recouverte de caramel, pointe de réglisse, finale doucereuse toute en torréfaction, caramel et amertume avec une petite pointe d’âcrete de torréfaction à la toute fin, moyennement sucrée, légèrement amère, corps moyen, texture crémeuse, bonne carbonatation; en résumé : bonne

Almost black in color with light brown head. Sweet caramel malt smell. Rich dark almost bark like malt with a sooth aftertaste.

Dark cherry color with a thick off-white head. A lightly fruity aroma. It has a decent malty taste but is somewhat watery.

Bottle. Redish/Brown color. Sweet, roasted smell. Malty flavor, with a hint of caramel.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color beer with a huge dark head with good retention. Aroma of slightly roasted malt. Taste is comprised of roasted malt with some subtle bitter hops to finish. Body is way too thin and there is a definite lack of coffee in here. Not bad but not close to being great either.

TAP- Dark black beer with a thin white colar. Very little malts in the aroma. The hops are very sharp, very german. Lighter bodied than expected.

An ok beer in it’s own right but it really does not hold up well compared to the better examples in the style. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a thin black color with a small dark brown head. The aroma is faint but malty with a sharp sour undertone. The taste is hoppy with a subdued chocolate maltiness and a sour tang. . Tastes a bit thin. Lacks complexity. Sour on finish

This starts out as a richly colored beer with a small, but creamy head. Nice malty aroma and a mouthfeel that is smooth with a balanced sweetness to it. Not a world class Schwarzbier, but certainly a respectable example just the same.

In my everlasting search for that perfect beer, I tried this. It's nice, smooth, and dark without being too filling. It's got a good taste, it's smooth going down, has a nice appearance and aroma. I'll definitely buy this one again... it's not something I'll tire of quickly.
