Dedicated to Spanish author Juan de la Cueva, who, in 1575, wrote of a Mexican dish that combined seedless chipotles with beer: Chipotle Ale is based on Rogue’s Oregon Golden Ale, but delicately spiced with smoked chipotle chile peppers. Deep golden in color with a tight head, rich malty aroma, delicately smooth and crisp flavor, and subtle chipotle chili finish. Formerly known and packages as Mexicali Rogue, Chipotle Ale is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, and Maier Munich Malts; Willamette and Cascade hops; and Smoked Jalapeno (Chipolte) Peppers. Chipotle Ale is targeted for spring release and available in a 22-ounce bottle and on draft. Blend it with Rogue Chocolate Stout and create a Mole’ black and tan!

(Bottle at Bishops Arms, Järntorget, Göteborg)Clear copper color, small white head. Sweet, malty, fudge and hops scent. Some lemon also. Grainy and sweet taste with some malty notes. Spritzy mouthfeel. Fudge and malt aftertaste. There is a small hint of chili burning sensation on my toungue. Medium bitterness.

Beautiful amber color; thick generous head. The aroma shows a delicate smoke and some malt. The body has an average structure, some malt flavor, stronger flavor of dry caramel, some smokeyness; the Chipotle spicing is very light (and it doesn’t bother). The ending bitterness at the end is maybe too high (with caramel).

Light brown color. Very little malt and a hint of pumpkin pie flavoring. Far too light.

This is a funny beer. It pours a reddish kind of color. Doesn’t really look like a blonde ale mind you. Smells malts and a wee bit of pepper. It is actually hard to spot the better taste in the beer, but it is noticeable and it gives a little burny bite, but apart form that this beer is mere novelty.

Pour is a hazy brown with a small white head. Aroma is quite hoppy, I was waiting for the burn but it did not come. Flavor is more of the hops and some sliky malts. I got no real pepper burn so this turned out to be a disappointment in that catagory. I was saving this for when i was ready for a "hot" beverage and all i got was a average pale ale.

Malty aroma, but not sweet. My eyes seemed to be affected very slightly. Hazy amber color with a white head that quickly left. It starts with chipotle. With enough swishing there is some malt flavor, but the finish is mild fire on the membranes. Most is on the upper rear of the roof of the mouth. A little towards the front of the tongue. I can’t detect hop. Dry finish.

22oz Bottle. Pour is golden orange with a healthy off white head. Aroma is a bit earthiness, with some pepper spiciness. Taste is a bit sweet at the beginning, then a touch of spice comes out in the middle through the finish. I was expecting a spicy beer, and this was a lot more balanced than expected. Overall, quite drinkable beer.

Hazy copper beer with an off-white head. Weak aroma with some smoke and a hint of malt. Slightly smoked flavour and very, very hot. Not much beer flavour or complexity, and since I’m not much of a chili lover, it doesn’t work for me.

22 oz bomber. Aroma is, well I shouldn’t say weak, but it was indistinct. Not bad, but nothing striking. I’m a huge fan of chili peppers, but I could not really tell too much of it in the flavor. Mostly a smoky flavor permiates this beverage.

Unclear orange with white head. Malty caramel, strong smoked chilli/jalapenos. filling body with a lasting light warm finish! Pleasant experience!
