Not quite a stout but definitely no lightweight, Cutthroat Porter is smooth and robust. Inspired by the classic London porters, the brewery uses dark roasted malts to create a deep, rich color and flavor that hint at chocolate and coffee. The beer was named Cutthroat Porter as a tribute to the Colorado state fish – with its own rich heritage and unmistakable dark coloring.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Black body with a medium beige head. Great lacing. Aroma of coffee, milk chocolate and a hint of vanilla. Bitter chocolate, coffee, nuts and a faint metallic tang. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft carbonation. A hoppy Porter but not as nice as Williams Brothers’ Profanity Stout I had yesterday.

Bottle dark brown, with mahogany edges/highlights. Dense tan head. Some toasted malt aroma. Rich smooth light roast flavors and as it warms up a bit, very smooth feel. Softly carbonated and notes of toffee and sweet roasted malts. Nice and easy.

Bottle. Chestnut brown. Beige, thin, lasting head. Bonfire toffee aroma. Some unripe fruit sourness. Dry, roasty taste, leading to a dry, light bitter finish.

Draft at Republic during RBSG. From notes. Coffee with a hint of dark fermented fruits. Ok, but not super special.

Dark brown with creamy beige head, sticky lacing coats the glass. Smoky aroma, peat, chocolate, coffee, burnt toast. taste is chocolate (semi-sweet) with some roast grain bitterness lingering. Halfway between a dunkel and a stout, this is very well crafted beer.

Bottle, 5.0% at BBF13. Mild coffee aroma, hint of fruit. Dark brown colour, seems hazy. Light brown head. The flavour is roasted with a good chocolatey maltiness. Has a hint of stable or bready grain, which suits the beer well.

35,5 cl bottle (5%) @ O’Hara’s Freehouse, BBE 22.06.2013
Aroma has hay, English hops, toffee and some licorice. Flavour has toffee, licorice, some distant herbal notes, chocolate and hints of spices. Salty licorice and ash in the finish. Quite British for an American porter. Good.

355ml bottle @ Malja, Kuopio

Pours pitch black with a foamy white head. Aroma of grainy malts, roastiness, syrup and coffee. Taste is grainy, roasty and nutty with notes of chocolate and coffee. Finish is roasty and grainy. Okay, a bit unbalanced porter.

(Bottle, 0.355 l - BBE 6/22/13, at Oluttupa Viisi Penniä. 20130523) The beer poured almost black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had roasted malts and dark chocolate. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, liquorice, chocolate and bitterness. Aftertaste was roasty and bitter. A very nice roasty brew.
