Not quite a stout but definitely no lightweight, Cutthroat Porter is smooth and robust. Inspired by the classic London porters, the brewery uses dark roasted malts to create a deep, rich color and flavor that hint at chocolate and coffee. The beer was named Cutthroat Porter as a tribute to the Colorado state fish – with its own rich heritage and unmistakable dark coloring.

on nitro-pours dark brown with red tint and a tan head that laces. Aroma is roasty/chocolate-dark malt, some earthy. Taste is sweet roasty/chocolate-dark malt, some earthy hops.

355ml bottle. Black with medium off-white head. Smokey, roasty, dark chocolate aroma. Taste has bitter chocolate, beacon and a metallic note with an increasing, lasting dryness. Occasionally a bit watery.

Very dark brown...ruby light shine through...off white head
Aroma - Roasted malts...milk chocolate...moderate coffee...well blended
Taste - Very dark caramel and chocolate malts....milk chocolate...less coffee than the aroma....some roasted malt.....hint of dark rich toffee......some milk lactose.....much more malt than hops.......well blended...mellow flavours....tasty
Palate - soft carb...smooth...some roast..but emphasis on light sweet milk chocolate...thin to medium body...smooth. Finish as main flavour..smooth sweet milky and light chocolate...some roast.
Great smooth mellow chocolate roast porter...not very complex...but really flavoursome - liked this porter a lot

Nitro tap at the brewery. Pours with a hazed brown body and a tan head. Aromas are sweet, roasty, leathery, chocolate and light esters. Smells sweet overall. Flavors are roasty, leather, earthy, dry. Good. Oatmeal/cereal notes. Light bubbles, lasting roast, creamy.

Fra kran på The Rake, London Bridge 20 Mai 11. Svart. Lavt filmskum. Forsiktig kaffearoma. Smaken er - sprudlende??? Litt kaffe. En vassen porter. Ikke mye å skryte av.

12 ounce bottle, best by 6/10/11. Pours crystal clear dark brown color with a nice 2 finger fairly dense tan head with very nice retention, that reduces to a fairly thick lacing cap. A nice amount of lacing clings to the side of the glass as well. Aromas of toasted malt, caramel, chocolate, nuttiness, molasses, and a bit of spice. Very nice aromas here with excellent strength as well. Taste of big toasted malt, chocolate, caramel, molasses, spices, and nuttiness. A fair amount of bitterness on the finish, with a bit of lingering notes of chocolate, toasted malt, caramel, and spices. Very nice balance of flavors as well. Medium carbonation and body, with a nice creamy and smooth mouthfeel. No alcohol noticed on the taste or finish as expected for 4.8%. Overall, definitely an excellent and well made porter that I wish I could get on a regular basis.

On tap at White Horse during their American beer festival. Creamy off white head. Dark pour. Very good. A little bit of coffee/chocolate in the flavour.

Bottle: Medium depth brown with a small beige head. Nice webs of lacing. Aroma is sweet, like milk chocolate, and a light roasty element. The roastiness comes through more in the taste, just a light cocoa presence and some bittersweetness. Soft and easy drinking.

Bottle from a trade with crajun. Pours black with tan head. Aroma of roasted mats and chocolate. Favors of bitterest chocolate and roasted maits with slight ashyness. Medium to full body with moderate carboatation and a creamy mouthful. Good stuff. Thanks Kevin.

Bottle from The Bottle Shop Canterbury. Black with very dark brown edges. Lasting thick beige head. Choc aroma. Touch of charcoal. In mouth a little thin with some whisky malts. Some ok choc on the finish. Not outstanding but its ok with some choc charcoal dominance.
